The world’s most popular fruit is definitely (on a technicality alone) the tomato as it is most widely produced fruit but is used as a vegetable. Who could be without the tomato? It is a staple in Italian, Greek and Pakistani cuisines and is used to make salsas, sauces and used in salads the world over. After that comes the mango, the king of fruit, according to people of the Indian subcontinent. Have you never eaten one? They are delicious and come in different varieties and sizes. Here in Pakistan we await them with eagerness and then eat as many as humanly possible until the season ends, which it seems to have done now. I love the small yellow ones that are a natural juice carton. You simply rub them between your palms and make a small hole in the top and slurp out the golden nectar inside.
